What is Lesser Restoration 5E?
Lesser Restoration 5E (PHB, p. 255) is a 2nd level abjuration spell, which is available natively to Artificers, Bards, Clerics, Druids, Paladins, and Rangers. It requires vocal and somatic components and takes an action to cast. When cast you touch a creature and can either end one condition or one disease affecting the creature. The conditions that can be removed are blinded, deafened, paralyzed, or poisoned.
Is Lesser Restoration 5E a good spell?
Lesser Restoration has the potential to be a life-saving spell in uncertain circumstances and otherwise can add convenience to a situation that might otherwise take a long rest or paying an NPC to resolve. However, it is certainly a niche spell as you could easily go many sessions without a disease or one of the covered conditions affecting a party member. Even if a condition does come up, then it may also be solved by a saving throw, with Lesser Restoration serving as a quicker resolution in those cases.
Some examples of making this spell better are a Divine Soul Sorcerer using Twinned Spell to cure two PCs at once or Distant Spell to avoid the limitations of a range of touch. Alchemist Artificers are also able to cast this spell several times without a spell slot from 9th level with their Reactive Reagents feature.
