Frequently asked questions
What does this fantasy town generator create?
Dice Cove builds a clickable procedural street map with a full settlement gazetteer — districts, establishments, factions, notable people, rumors with DM truth tags, and plot hooks — plus lock-and-reroll, history, PNG/Markdown export, and shareable seeds.
Is the same seed always the same town?
Yes. Seed plus your filters (size, environment, culture, tone, walls) determine the map geometry and gazetteer. Share the URL and anyone opens the identical settlement.
Can I keep the map and reroll rumors?
Lock overview, districts, or other sections you like, then click Reroll unlocked. Locked fields stay; everything else regenerates from a new seed while preserving locked content.
Can I use the map at the table?
Download a PNG for handouts or VTTs, copy Markdown for Obsidian/Notion, or copy Discord text for a quick paste. Ink, parchment, and night map styles cover different table aesthetics.
Does generation run on a server?
No. Everything runs in your browser. Nothing is uploaded; local history is stored only on this device.
How does this relate to the fantasy world generator?
The world generator sketches continents and named settlements. This tool zooms into one settlement: streets, wards, shops, politics, and adventure hooks. Use them as a pair for campaign prep.
