Continent Name Generator
Generate continent names for D&D worldbuilding — vast landmasses on your campaign map and planar atlases.
- Varos
- Gonos
- Noria
- Land of the Broken Coast
- The Continent of the Jade Expanse
- The Continent of the Northern Wastes
- The Verdant Frontier
- Eldren
- The Lost Frontier
- The Northern Wastes
Continents are the canvas for kingdoms and dungeons alike. Name the landmasses your players will cross — or never leave.
Naming a continent that sticks
Continent names should feel bigger than any single kingdom. Favor broad vowels, archaic suffixes (-ia, -or, -thal), or epithets (“the Jade Expanse”) that still read cleanly on a campaign map legend.
Decide early whether the name is endonym (what locals say) or exonym (what sailors and scholars write). That single choice explains why two NPCs argue over pronunciation without a lore lecture.
Example approaches
Classic atlas: Aethoria, Morenthal, Solwyn.
Epithet first: The Shattered Reach, The Frozen Belt, Land of the Broken Coast.
Cultural brand: give each continent a consonant palette so later town and NPC names sound related.
Next steps for worldbuilders
After you lock a continent name, generate kingdoms, empires, and cities with matching phonics. Use the fantasy world generator when you want a seeded map, then drop this continent label onto the largest landmass.

Naming tips
