Goblin names snap and snarl — short, ugly, and perfect for cannon fodder, sneaky scouts, or the goblin PC who defies every stereotype.

Why goblin names sound sharp

Fantasy goblin names usually pack hard consonants into one or two syllables so they are easy to shout across a skirmish map. The joke name and the terrifying name often share the same phonics — which is useful when the party meets both the comic relief scout and the boss who eats the comic relief scout.

For player characters, start with a classic goblin snap-name, then decide whether they kept it proudly, translated it into Common, or adopted a neighbor culture’s name after leaving the warren.

Example batches

Skirmishers: Sniktok, Grikash, Zogbit, Yiknak.

Bosses with titles: Griknak the Boss, Mogrot One-Ear, Skizgash of the Red Banner.

PC-friendly softens: Nix (from Nixzit), Dak (from Dakgash), “Rita” as a Common nickname for a trapmaker.

Worldbuilding hooks

Reuse a short tribe suffix across a warband so the party hears kinship before they see it on a stat block. Pair with the warband and faction generators when the goblins are more than random encounters.

Need a lair label? Generate a goblin name, then open the cave or lair generators for the hole they insist is a fortress.
