DnDs 5E has some confusing terminology but if you’ve wanted to play a Cleric, played a game with a Cleric, or just browsed your Player’s Handbook (PHB) you’ve probably come across Cleric Domains. In this article, we’ll explain what a domain is, what it gives you, and provide a list of all the currently published domains, along with their features.

What are Cleric Domains?

A domain is the unique name for Cleric subclasses, each domain represents something that your god has dominion over. For example, the Egyptian god Ra was regarded as the god of the sun, so an appropriate domain for his Clerics would be Light. Whilst it helps build the theme of your character to choose a domain and god that align with your campaign’s world, you are not bound to choose a certain god because you want to be a certain domain and vice versa.

You choose your domain at your 1st level of Cleric, and it provides features at 1st, 2nd, 6th, 8th, and 17th. It also provides you with Domain Spells at levels 1, 3, 5, 7, and 9.

All domains will provide you with a Channel Divinity option, domain-appropriate spells, and either a bonus to cantrip damage or weapon damage.
